kolkwitzia, beauty bush

This is the shrub that wowed our group in Secrest Arboretum. You'll notice from the photo how nice and sunny it was when I was down there. I couldn't remember the common name....it's beauty bush. No wonder I forgot the name; I get irritated with those vague common names like beauty berry, beauty bush, etc. Let's call it kolkwitzia, it helps clear the rain out of our throats!

fresh greens from Denise's kitchen garden

Lettuce seed went in weekly this spring, and starting around Mother's Day, all salads have been fresh from the garden.....chives, mustard leaves, pansy flowers, dill, green onions, radishes, Swiss chard and spinach. Yum!
